Plot

Dr. Shaina Mehra (Jaqueline Fernandez) is a psychiatrist living in Poland. One day, her father, Mr. Brijesh Mehra (Saurabh Shukla) brings a marriage proposal and asks her to meet Himanshu Tyagi (Randeep Hooda). Himanshu and Shaina meet in a train, where Shaina reveals that she had an ex-boyfriend, Devi, (Salman Khan) and talks about her experiences with him.

Devi Lal Singh is a highly intelligent, highly achieved but adventurous, most typical and fun-loving youth, who is always looking for a 'kick' or adventure or something fun in life. Due to his daredevil attitude, he never stays in one job for long. He has resigned from 32 companies as he feels that he is suffering from a lack of kick. When Shaina first meets Devi, she is trying to help her friend Vidhi (Sumona Chakravarti) elope with her lover who turns out to be Devi's friend (Kavin Dave). Devi rescues them both, gets them married in a temple but also helps her mother follow them and reach the temple for the 'kick'. Shaina initially dislikes Devi because of his thrill seeking and daredevil attitude. Shaina calls up Inspector Ramavtaar Rathi (Sanjay Mishra) to arrest him for an eve teasing case but he sees Devi beating goons. Devi asks the inspector to take him to jail. Shaina starts to like Devi after learning that he is a good person after seeing a video of him beating the goons. Shaina goes to free him. Later Shaina meets Devi's caring but easy going parents including his father Lal Singh (Mithun Chakraborty) and his mother (Archana Puran Singh). She tells Shaina about Devi. Devi and Shaina start dating, and fall in love with each other. They decide to get married. On Shaina's suggestion, Devi accepts a job in a chemical lab, but resigns in a few days after once again suffering from the lack of kick. Upon hearing this, Shaina scolds him. Upset, Devi breaks up with her and moves away after telling her that he is going to get another job in which he won't suffer from a lack of kick. Shaina leaves for Poland, where her parents live, and does not hear about or see Devi for a year.

Himanshu, who is a police inspector, shares his experiences with a thief he deeply hates, because he can't stop him. Himanshu had come to Poland to catch a thief. The robber, called 'Devil', targets all the rich people associated with Shiv Gajra (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a corrupt businessman, and robs them. The robber is none other than Devi. When Himanshu is unsuccessful in catching Devil, Devi contacts Himanshu and refers to him as a "partner" and insults him by calling him a loser. The word "loser" was in fact a hint towards the number for the flight Devi took to Warsaw to commit his next robbery, LO737. Himanshu ends up going to Poland to catch him, and that was how he ended up there.

Shaina spots Devi in Poland. He has come there for treatment after losing his memory in an accident. Shaina, who is a psychiatrist, offers to handle Devi's case and decides to take him home. It is now revealed that Devi is just acting about his memory loss and his real plan is to befriend and fool Himanshu and rob Shiv, who will be coming to Poland for a deal worth crores of rupees. Devi enters a charity function and robs Shiv, who was about to invest a huge amount of money in a foreign firm. During the robbery Himanshu and Shaina discover Devil's true identity. Devi escapes by jumping from off the building and rappelling down. He steals a bus and tries to escape. He is then chased by cops led by Himanshu. After a long chase, though many cops die and Devi gets cornered by Himanshu who is with a few cops blocking him, he escapes by driving off the bridge. Unfortunately the bus falls into the river, and the cash is destroyed in the process. Devi celebrates his failure back in India. Himanshu spots Devi and warns him that if he tries to rob again he will be killed, but Devi challenges him by saying that he will rob a huge party fund worth 5 billion rupees on 14 November. Devi dares Himanshu to kill him on the 14th, otherwise Devi will be standing in front of him on 15 November, and he won't be able to do anything.

In a flashback, Devi's true intentions and good deeds are revealed by Devi's father. He tells Shaina that his son is committing robberies to help poor children who are suffering from diseases and need millions of rupees for treatment. Devi once saved a girl named Jhumki by arranging 2 million rupees through some means after getting a letter sent by her dead parents who had committed suicide. When a doctor tells him that several such children are suffering from diseases, he decides to save them by performing robberies in order to get the money for their treatment, knowing that this will give him a lot of kick. On 14 November, Devi goes to steal the party funds. He goes to find Shiv, and his guards are waiting for him. After fighting Shiv's henchmen, Devi confronts and kills Shiv. He puts a briefcase full of the money in the back of a van in a parking lot. He tells his father to get in and drive away with the money. He then runs out of the parking lot towards the street to draw the police force's attention away from his father. Himanshu is set up with many officers to shoot Devi, but many kids block his way as soon as he has a clear shot. It turns out that 14 November is Children's Day, and the sick children are going to pray for Devi and thank him for saving them. Himanshu realizes that all the robberies Devi did was actually for the kids.

On 15 November, Devi joins the police force to "catch" Devil. He arrives at the police station and stands in front of an astonished and speechless Himanshu, who is unable to do anything about the situation, therefore completing his challenge successfully. Himanshu is taken off the case and it is given to Devi, who is now a police officer. Devi then thanks Himanshu, saying that he was never against him, but he is against the police force. Himanshu then says that it is impossible to understand him. The film ends with Devi saying, "Don't think too much about me, I can only be loved, not understood, and that's the best kick in life." He gets back together with Shaina in the end with the song Yaar Na Miley with Nargis Fakhri.

He now lives with his mother (Nadira Babbar) as well as his sister Geeta (Tabu), whom are not on speaking terms with each other since Geeta married a Muslim man against her mother's wish.

Jai once helped a physically disabled girl, Suman (Genelia D'Souza) to write her examination, but on another day, during one of her other examinations, no one turned up to help, despite her persistent begging. Depressed, Suman commits suicide, by jumping of the building. Disturbed by this incident, Jai feels that unlike himself, people don't help others and hence plans to start a network system that works on the concept that everyone should help three people and should ask them to help three more people and so on. Jai believes that this network will help develop a better attitude among the people but faces disappointment.

One day, Jai beats a rich man who injured a child beggar. To take revenge, the rich man employs some goons who take Jai's sister Geeta and friend Rinky (Daisy Shah) into their custody. Jai saves them and breaks the hand of a goon who happens to be the henchman of an MLA (Mukul Dev), who is also the son-in-law of Home Minister Dashrat Singh (Danny Denzongpa).

When the Chief Minister Ashok Pradhan (Mohnish Bahl) comes to know about Jai's concept, as his own life was saved by a school girl, he intervenes to bring in a patch-up between Jai and Dashrat Singh. Instead, Dashrat Singh plans to kill him and frame Jai in the murder. But Jai runs away with the injured Chief Minister and saves him. Dashrat Singh's son Arjun Singh (Haroon Qazi) along with his goons attack Jai. Jai kills him but gets severely injured after getting hit by a knife that was punched in his back by Dashrat's daughter (Sana Khan) before he killed Arjun. A rickshaw driver (Mahesh Manjrekar) and army officer and former colleague Arjun Kaul (Sunil Shetty) help him to get to the hospital. Meanwhile, Dashrat Singh spreads the rumour in the media that Jai was responsible for trying to kill the Chief Minister but finally the Chief Minister recovers and reveals the truth leading to a crowd beating Dashrat Singh. Finally, the doctors successfully save Jai. Jai comes to know that his help-three-people concept worked well and the same concept saved his life. A boy gets kidnapped from a school therefore Chulbul deals with the problem. In Kanpur, an assassin murders a witness who is about to testify against a dreaded don. Genda harasses a girl, arriving at her wedding to kidnap her. Chulbul arrives at the wedding and asks Genda to leave. Genda refuses to comply and continues to insult Chulbul. Chulbul breaks his neck, leading to his death. In the meantime his wife becomes pregnant, Pandey being advised by everybody to leave Bachcha alone for the sake of his family's safety. Bachcha, promising to avenge his brother's death, decides to do so before the election. Production
Development

After the Rajjo Bahbise their parts in the sequel.[d 1] Her main look was also taken from the first and consisted of a yellow saree, a long plait with flowers in her hair.[d 2] When director Abhinav Kashyap opted out of directing the sequel, Arbaaz Khan himself jumped in as the film's director.[d 3] Prakash Raj was confirmed to have been chosen to play the main villain.[d 4] Kareena Kapoor has been roped in to play an item number in the film,[d 5][d 6] despite initial reports considering Katrina Kaif for the role.[d 7]

In Feb 2012,it was reported that distribution rights were sold to UTV Motion Pictures for a price of ₹ 1.40 billion, the highest for a Bollywood film till date.[d 8] But later UTV Motion Pictures reported the news as completely fake & nonsense. UTV Motion Pictures has brushed aside rumours of purchasing the rights of the sequel to Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer, Dabangg 2 for ₹ 1.40 billion.[d 9] The national emblem framed on the wall of Chulbul Pandey's police station was depicted incorrectly. Sensitive to the slightest abnormality pertaining to national sentiments, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked producer-director Arbaaz Khan to simply blur the corner of the film's frames where the national emblem appears.[d 10]
Filming

Shooting for the film began in March 2012.[f 1] The producers announced plans to shoot the film in Kanpur.[f 2] A set depicting the city of Kanpur was created at the Kamalistan Studios in Mumbai, where the first schedule of the film was shot.[f 3] The entire studio was rented for the film, making it a first in Bollywood.[f 4] The phase consisted of shooting a qawwali song under neon lights.[f 5] Following the shoot, filming is expected to take place in film city in Mumbai. The last schedule has been planned to be shot at Satara.[f 3] Three days after the film went on floors, it was reported that Salman Khan replaced cinematographer, K. K. Senthil Kumar, with Aseem Kumar.[f 6] A song titled "Fevicol" was choreographed as a dance number and considered as an equivalent to "Munni Badnaam Hui" from Dabangg.[f 7] Reports indicating that Salman would essay an important involvement in the director's role were dismissed by Arbaaz.[

He is immediately sent on a mission to Dublin to observe a scientist of Indian origin, Professor Anwar Jamaal Kidwai (Roshan Seth), who teaches at Trinity College and is suspected of sharing his findings with the Pakistan defence establishment. Fellow RAW agent Gopi (Ranvir Shorey) accompanies Tiger on this mission. Tiger meets the scientist but fails to spend enough time for his observance and instead begins to spend time with scientist's caretaker Zoya (Katrina Kaif), who is studying at a local dance academy. He tries to befriend Zoya to extract information, but begins to discover his human side as he grows closer to her. Tiger is attacked and robbed at his residence by a person suspected to be an ISI agent. Gopi repeatedly warns Tiger not to fall in love with Zoya, but love cannot be stopped.Tiger asks Joya for a date and their they both came to know about their feelings for each other. Before telling her his feelings, during a visit to dance academy, Tiger discovers that Zoya is an ISI agent and refuses to commit treason on Pakistan when he asks. Instead of killing Zoya, Tiger lets her go.

Some time later, Tiger and Zoya meet again at a UN Foreign Minister's Meet in Istanbul when Zoya signals to him using a cryptic message. They decide to leave everything for their love and fool their respective agencies by taking a flight to Cuba, having told their agencies that they are in Kazakhstan. Some years later, their agencies trace Zoya and Tiger to Cuba, and the ISI agents catch Zoya. Tiger meets Gopi, who is searching for him for RAW, and having lied to Gopi that both Tiger and Zoya intend to return to India and cooperate with RAW, convinces Gopi to save Zoya from the ISI agents. Instead of returning to India, the pair escapes aboarding an aeroplane. Tiger calls Shenoy, who tells him that RAW will find both spies. Tiger tells Shenoy that they will return when Pakistan and India no longer need ISI and RAW. Plot

Lovely Singh (Salman Khan) is assigned as Divya's (Kareena Kapoor) bodyguard to protect her from goons hunting her to take revenge against her father, a kind and successful politician. Lovely is very devoted to his duties—but irritates Divya by following her everywhere. Divya and her friend Maya (Hazel Keech) call Lovely; with Divya pretending to be a girl, Chhaya madly in love with Lovely, hoping this will distract him from his work.

Initially hesitant, Lovely gradually starts loving the mysterious Chhaya and looks forward to her calls, but doesn't realize that it is actually Divya. Meanwhile, Lovely protects Divya on many occasions from the attacks of Ranjan Mahatre and his goons. Soon, Divya too falls in love with Lovely but is scared to reveal her identity, due to Lovely's immense devotion and loyalty toward his duties and her father. Divya, as Chhaya, later tells Lovely to run away with her and meet her at a railway station. Her father, Sartaj, begins suspecting that Lovely and Divya are in love and they might elope so he sends his men to kill Lovely. Divya convinces her father that Lovely's lover is someone else who is waiting for him at the railway station. Sensing that Lovely might be heartbroken if he does not meet his Chhaya, Divya sends Maya to tell Lovely her true identity. However, when Lovely sees Maya running toward him, he believes she is Chhaya. Maya tries to tell him that Divya is Chhaya, but sees one of Sartaj's men in the compartment, waiting for her to answer Lovely. She tells Lovely that she is Chhaya. Divya calls Maya but Maya gets on the train with Lovely and throws her phone away instead of returning to her friend.

Lovely and Maya marry and have a son but Maya unexpectedly dies early from a disease. Several years later, Sartaj invites Lovely and his son to his house and apologizes for his behaviour. Lovely believed that Divya was happily married in London so he is shocked to see her still living in the house, unmarried. His son, who knows of his mother's betrayal from a diary Maya had left him, explaining what she had done and that her early death was the punishment for her betrayal of her friend, grows close to Divya and apologizes to her on his mother's behalf.

Production

The film's production company, Reel Life Production Pvt. Ltd, was bought by Reliance Entertainment for ₹ 450 million. This earned Reliance the co-producer status and an equal share in the IPR for perpetuity.[1]

The film director Siddique first offered the female lead to Asin[9] but she refused because she was already doing Ready opposite Salman Khan. The role then went to Kareena Kapoor.

Neerupa Menon, a mutual friend of director Siddique and Alvira Khan, introduced him to Alvira and Atul Agnihotri, the to-be co-producers of the film, suggesting that he should venture into Bollywood. Siddique sent his original Malayalam film to Alvira and Atul as a result of the suggestion and they convinced Salman Khan to watch the film. After watching the film, Khan was very impressed with it and agreed to do the Hindi remake.[10]

Shooting for the film began on 16 January 2011 at the Symbiosis International University campus situated in Lavale, Pune. The classrooms and academic block of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management were used in the Lavale campus. The shooting later continued in the town of Patiala (Punjab).[11] Two songs from the film were scheduled to be shot in Europe but were later shifted to Film City in Mumbai to cut costs as the film had already exceeded its initial budget.[12]
Release

Bodyguard opened across 2,250 screens in 70 Indian cities and with 482 prints across the overseas territory, released in Dolby Surround 7.1.[1][13] Reliance Entertainment set aside a marketing and print budget of around ₹220 million (US$3.5 million) for the film, one of the highest ever in Bollywood.[1] The satellite rights of the film were sold to STAR network for ₹270 million (US$4.3 million) for seven years

Ready is a 2011 Indian action romantic comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee,[5] starring Salman Khan and Asin in the lead roles.[6][7][8] It also features Paresh Rawal, Arya Babbar and Mahesh Manjrekar in supporting roles,[9] while Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Kangna Ranaut, Zarine Khan and Arbaaz Khan make cameo appearances. It is a remake of the 2008 Telugu film, Ready directed by Sreenu Vaitla starring Ram and Genelia.[10] The music is given by Pritam. The first look was unveiled on 5 April 2011, while the theatrical trailer was released on 15 April 2011.[11] The film was released on 3 June 2011.[2] Upon release, Ready became the second highest opening-day grosser, as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film, after Dabangg, another Salman Khan-starrer.[12] It holds the record for being second highest grossing Bollywood film of 2011.
Plot

Ready starts with ready-witted Prem (Salman Khan) helping his childhood friend Khushi (Zarine Khan) to elope with Raju (Ajay Devgn). Khushi's intended bridegroom Gaurav (Arbaaz Khan) reveals that he also has a girlfriend, Kiran (Kangna Ranaut), whom he wants to marry. The elopement angers Khushi's father, Mr. Pathak (Mithilesh Chaturvedi) and Prem's family, the Kapoors. Prem manages to pacify his family members.

The Kapoors decide to get Prem engaged to Pooja. Prem is sent to receive Pooja at the airport; however, he deliberately goes to the wrong terminal to avoid meeting her. A young woman named Sanjana (Asin), who has just run away from her own wedding, overhears Prem telling his uncle about ditching Pooja. Since nobody from Prem's family has ever seen Pooja, Sanjana pretends to be Prem's intended fiancée. Sanjana, posing as Pooja, goes to stay with the Kapoors and wins the hearts of the entire family, except Prem, who gets irritated with her.

Meanwhile, Sanjana's maternal uncles, Amar Choudhary (Akhilendra Mishra) and Suraj Choudhary (Sharat Saxena), who are rivals, try to search for her. Each uncle wants Sanjana to marry his respective brother-in-law to inherit her wealth. Sanjana and Prem escape from Suraj Chaudhary's goons by taking a lift in the car of Mr. Lehri (Sudesh Lehri). Prem outwits the goons and sends Suraj's son Aryan into a coma while escaping. Suraj Choudhary takes the help of Mr. Lehri to get to know who ran away with Sanjana.

By then, Prem finds out Sanjana's true identity, and she tells him about her uncles trying to get her married. Prem and Sanjana fall in love and decide to marry. However, her uncle Suraj Chaudhary takes her away. Then the Kapoors come to know about her true identity; they still want her as Prem's wife. Prem assures Sanjana that she should stay with her uncle, and he will find a way to marry her as well as reunite her whole family.

Prem pretends to be the nephew of Balidaan Bhardwaaj a.k.a. Bali (Paresh Rawal), a chartered accountant who serves Sanjana's uncles. Prem convinces Suraj and Amar Chaudhary not to get either of their brothers-in-law married to Sanjana. Instead, he suggests the daughters of America's billionaires K.K. and B.K. Modi as suitable brides for the two brothers-in-law. What the Choudharies do not know is that K.K. and B.K. Modi are actually Prem's dad and uncle in disguise. Prem gets the rest of his family to play characters to trick Sanjana's family into letting her marry him. He also manages to change the Chaudhary family's negative attitudes.

But on the wedding day, Aryan recovers from his coma, and reveals the truth about Prem. A physical fight follows, in which Prem gets the upper hand of Sanjana's uncles and their men. He then explains to Amar and Suraj how Sanjana's late mother wanted them to unite and get their niece married. The Chaudharies realise their mistake and are deeply apologetic for their behaviour. In the end, Prem and Sanjana get married and their wedding picture is taken with the Kapoors and Chaudharies, a.k.a. the 'Chapoors'. In the end, a spinoff is placed for a sequel in the future as the third brother of the Chauderies returns.

Production

The film was originally to be shot in Mauritius.[14] However, on the request of Salman Khan, the location was changed to Sri Lanka.[14] Khan described his decision to choose Sri Lanka as its proximity to India and its suitable landscape for Indian productions.[13]

Shooting started on 20 June 2010 in Colombo.[15][16] The first schedule of shooting lasted for over 27 days at locations in Colombo and the neighbouring Bentota,[16] during which approximately 40% of the filming was completed.[17]

The second schedule of shooting was slated to start in October 2010 but was delayed due to eye problems faced by Salman Khan. The lead actor requested Anees Bazmee to delay the shoot until his condition improved.[18] Shooting started again in Mumbai from 3 November 2010.[19] Portions of Ready were shot at Film City in Mumbai and Cherish Studios at Madh Island in the north of Mumbai.[20] During filming, media reports emerged that Asin had shot an intimate scene,[21] though the reports were later denied by the actress.[22]

The final schedule of shooting started in February 2011 in Bangkok.[23] According to reports, actors Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt and Kangna Ranaut, who were shooting in Bangkok for David Dhawan's film, Rascals were called by Salman Khan to become part of the movie. The trio shot for a day doing cameo appearances.[24] Arbaaz Khan and Zarine Khan were also confirmed to have shot for small cameos in the film.[25] The final schedule of shooting was completed in March 2011.[26] Two songs from Ready, "Character Dheela" and "Dhinka Chika", which were filmed in Bangkok were re-shot in Mumbai's Film City studios. According to producer Bhushan Kumar, "the whole [production] team felt that the visuals didn't suit the song."[27] The song "Character Dheela", which features Salman Khan and Zarine Khan (in a cameo appearance) is a tribute to veteran actors Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra.[28]
Release

Ready’s release date was first set as 27 May[9][29] but was later pushed back to 3 June.[2] Advance bookings were opened on 29 May (five days before release) in several multiplexes.[30] It became the first Indian film to release on at least 1000 UFO digital prints and almost 1900 prints in all.[31] The advance at single screens matched that of Dabangg and even bettered it at places.[32] The world premiére took place at Grand Cineplex, Dubai on 1 June 2011.[
